Marri Wesley commits to Georgetown

Southeastern Prep's Marri Wesley has committed to Georgetown.

The 6-foot-6 small forward in the Class of 2027 made his decision after visiting Washington, D.C., over the weekend, and he is the first 2027 recruit to commit to head coach Ed Cooley and the Hoyas. ESPN ranks Wesley No. 70 nationally in his class, and he is No. 73 in the Rivals Industry Rankings. Georgetown beat out TCU, Oklahoma and SMU, among others.

Wesley told Rivals he chose Georgetown because of the coaching staff, which had recruited him since early in his high school career, and because he expects a smooth jump from his high school system to theirs. He compared his game to former Hoyas Micah Peavy and KJ Lewis.

The Peavy connection runs deep. Wesley, a Dallas native, was the state championship game MVP for Kimball High School in Texas before transferring to Southeastern Prep ahead of his junior year to play for head coach David Peavy, Micah Peavy's father. Peavy led Duncanville to Texas state titles before coming to Orlando.

Scouts point to Wesley's physicality as a big-bodied wing who attacks downhill, finishes at the rim, rebounds and defends. He scored 29 points with 11 rebounds at the EYBL Atlanta session, and he opened this season with 10 points and 4 steals in the National Team's 91–79 win over Mater Dei at the Border League in Las Vegas.

Wesley and the Falcons head to Atlanta next for the OTE Takeover on Oct. 16.
